A whole lot of information this week...

It's been a busy few weeks in the Campus Ministry Office. Last Thursday was the All-School Retreat. It was a little different from past years, but I received some positive feedback.  I am grateful to Greg & Kyle who led the day for us and shared their stories of faith.  In addition to the talks and activities, the afternoon of praise & worship, adoration and Mass was awesome!  About 50 photos of the day are available on the Campus Ministry Facebook page:  Campus Ministry on fb

Service hours are coming in and I am doing my best to catch up with them.  Over 6,000 are entered so far.  Unfortunately, I still have over 40 papers that have no name or were not filled out properly in order for me to process them.  As soon as all hours that can be posted are entered on Renweb, I will let you know, in case your hours are not showing.  It's still too early to panic if your hours are not there!  Please remember however, that 7 hours (direct, indirect or a combination) are due the first week of December.

All-School Mass for the Solemnity of All Saints (Holy Day of Obligation) will be celebrated Thursday, November 1 at All Saints Church at 10:15.  Bishop Stika will be the celebrant and homilist.  As always, parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Friday, November 2, (All Souls Day).  Beginning after the daily Mass, adoration ends with Benediction at 2:45pm.

During the month of November, we remember friends and loved ones who have died.  If you have anyone you would like remembered in the prayers and Masses here at KCHS throughout the month, please feel free to email names to prayer@knoxvillecatholic.com

I have started planning the pilgrimage to Washington D.C. for the annual March for Life that takes place in January.  Details will be announced within the next two weeks.  If any students are interested and have not yet talked to their Religion teacher or me, please come to my office.

Again, I encourage you to view the KCHS Campus Ministry page on Facebook.  There are hundreds of photos from retreats, sporting events, etc. posted there.

Blessed to be here at KCHS,
-Mr. B

Service - October

This past weekend was a busy one for our Christian Service Program, with 5 different events occurring around the community.  If you served at one of them, please turn those forms in as soon as possible.

To date, over 5,100 hours have been turned in, verified and recorded in RenWeb.
If yours don't yet appear, please continue to be patient.

Approximately 1/6th of students have completed their hours for the year and over 40 students have completed the required reflection paper.

There are many opportunities which will be coming up at Salvation Army, KARM, etc. for the holidays.  I will post them on Renweb as soon as I have specific information.  If you have any questions, please email me.

a 'super' day

For the last four years, I have had the pleasure of going downtown with the seniors who were voted by their classmates as 'Senior Superlatives".  We take photos for the yearbook, eat a meal together and I always learn something new about someone.  This year we went to the Old City.  It is always a good time and nice to see the students outside the confines of the hallways and classrooms.  I love being part of this type of thing.   I often say that if I just came to work in my office or teach in a classroom and went home each day after dismissal, I wouldn't have lasted 25+ years in education.  Going to concerts, watching athletic events, talking with students in the parking lot and even just hanging around during Spirit Week make this much more than just a job.
